Spain Invited to watch the Grizzlies

The Memphis Grizzlies have invited Spain to their February 21, 2006 basketball game. That's right...Spain. That's over 41 million people. It's a good thing I already have tickets to the game!! :D

They have invited Spain because the best player on the Grizzlies is Pau Gasol from Spain! Pau by the way became the Grizzlies first NBA All Star recently!

Anyway I am thinking the best way to help celebrate Spain and Pau Gasol is with a cool Spanish Flag Shirt of come kind! :D ( Of course )

Seeing that its winter, I am thinking that the Spain Flag Sweatshirt would be great!

You can find this shirt at Spanish Flag Sweatshirt

Find the rest of your Spain Clothing at My World Flags!!

New Tomb Found in Valley of Kings
By OMAR SINAN
AP
CAIRO, Egypt (Feb. 9) - American archaeologists have uncovered a pharaonic-era tomb in Egypt's Valley of the Kings, the first uncovered there since King Tutankhamun's in 1922, Egypt's antiquities chief announced Wednesday.

The 18th Dynasty tomb included five mummies in intact sarcophagi with colored funerary masks along with more than 20 large storage jars, sealed with pharaonic seals, Zahi Hawass, head of the Supreme Council of Antiquities said in a statement.

The statement did not specify whether the tomb was believed to be that of a pharaoh. The 18th Dynasty ruled from around 1560 B.C. to 1085 B.C., and Tutankhamun was among its kings.

A University of Memphis team of archaeologists led by Otto Schaden found the tomb some 13 feet below the ground, buried under rubble and stones 16 feet away from Tut's tomb.

Inside the rectangular tomb, the five wooden sarcophagi were surrounded by the jars, which appeared placed haphazardly, suggesting the burial was completed quickly, according to Hawass.

Antiquities officials could not be reached for further comment.

Hawass described the find as the first tomb discovered in the Valley of the Kings - the desert valley outside the southern city of Luxor where many pharaohs are buried - since Tut's tomb was found by Howard Carter 84 years ago.

In 1995, American archaeologist Kent Weeks opened a previously known tomb and discovered it was larger than expected. He determined that it was the tomb for the sons of the Pharaoh Ramses II.

The King Scares Me

Is anyone besides me, freaked out by the Burger King King? Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the King as an advertisment. I mean, it really does almost make me want to go eat at Burger King. ( almost )

He just scares me. The way his face doesn't move and he just stands there grinning at you. ::shudder::: The one commercial where he is standing at the window just waiting to "present his sandwich" to the guy...I mean come on! If I had opened the drapes to see Mr. King standing there, I think I would have had a heart attack.

Anyway, I have updated Brazil on the World Flag Store. Go check it out!

George Clooney is an Idiot

Shown below is the father of Jack Abramoff's open letter to George Clooney after Looney Clooney made fun of his son at the Golden Globes. Good for you Frank! It's time someone told this idiot Hollywood people where to go. We don't give a crap about your politics Clooney!! Just dance around like a monkey and entertain us like we pay you for!!!

Frank Abramoff▓s open letter to George Clooney

Oh how far Hollywood has fallen. When you rose to accept the Golden Globes best actor award earlier this week, you decided to take a gratuitous slap at my son, my family and even my dear departed father. Is this the tradition of Gable, Bogart, Pacino and Burton? Are you the heir to the dignity and greatness of Hollywood's past, or more likely a portent to a depressing and horrific future?

Your glib and ridiculous attack on my son, Jack, coupled with your obscene query as to the choice his mother and I made in naming him, brought shame and dishonor on you and your profession. What drove you to this lapse in lucidity, I can never know, but you need to know that your words were deeply hurtful to many innocent and decent people who love my son and who cherish our family.

We have had to endure two years of unmitigated, outrageous falsehood directed at my son and his record of achievement on behalf of his clients and friends. The bloodthirsty media, guilty of untold character assassinations during contemporary times, have even outdone themselves in their lust to create a cartoon which does not come close to resembling this fine man, my son.

The fact that you would spend those few moments accorded to you, as an honor for your work as an actor, bashing his name and his family, is astonishing. How do you sleep at night, other than perhaps with the drink, which you lamented not having at that early hour. Funny, it was very hard for us little people in television land to tell whether you had indulged in the bottle or not.

My son was named after my beloved departed father. His name, too, was Jack Abramoff. And, were he alive today, would be standing firmly behind his namesake, as his entire family and many more true friends than you will ever know.

Not that it matters to you, I am sure, but the worst part of your tirade is that it played out in front of many young people, including my sweet 12-year-old granddaughter, one of Jack's five children. Jack did not waste his time watching the garbage spewing from your mouth, but his daughter did. You drove her to a fit of tears. Are you proud of that?

For four generations, our family has worked hard to serve this country we love. I enlisted as a young man of seventeen into the United States Navy, so I could serve my nation in WWII. My brother did the same, and we both served in South Pacific. My son dedicated his life to patriotic and religious causes, which have made this nation great. He gave unsparingly of his time and resources to help those in need.

You spend your days ridiculing our nation and our traditions. You mock those who serve our nation and its flag. You revile my son and publicly try to humiliate him in front of a national audience. I have news for you George Clooney — one day the truth about my son will come out and there will be a lot of people in your industry and others lined up to apologize for their efforts to destroy him and our family. You won't be in that line, though, because the plague of arrogance and falsehood will surely continue to blind your eyes and cause your tongue to disgrace the parents who brought you onto the earth.

One wonders how your father would respond, were the roles re versed. One wonders whether your children would delight in someone lampooning your name and besmirching your reputation. You have brought yourself to a low unparalleled by the greats of your profession. Shame on you.

Australia and Austria!!

Ok I have updated the Australia and the Austria sections. I really like the cool black shirts that have been added to each section. I think that people will like them both but the Australia one looks really good with the flag colors. I still think the $13.99 shirts in each section are the best value for the money though!

Some fun facts about Austria:

In 1477, the first diamond engagement ring was given to Mary of Burgundy by Archduke Maximillian of Austria.

Austria was the very first country to use postcards starting in 1869

The deepest cave in the world is the "Lamprechtsofen-Vogelshacht" cave which can be found in Salzburg, Austria. The cave is 5,354 feet deep.

Some Fun Facts about Australia:

A species of earthworm, "Megascolides australis," in Australia can grow up to fifteen feet in length.

The Australian Brown Snake's venom is so powerful that only 1/14,000th of on ounce is needed to kill a human being.

In Australia, the average person uses 876 gallons of water daily. In Switzerland they use only 77 gallons of water per person daily. ( This one is hard to believe!! )

The worlds tallest free fall rollercoaster is The Giant Drop located in Australia. The drops is 120 meters which is equivalent to a 39 storey building. ( Wow...I need to visit this one! )

The number of births that occur in India each year is higher than the entire population of Australia. ( I'm thinking one of these countries needs to have more sex! )

Anyway...go buy some flag items at My World Flags!!

O'Canada!!

Ok I have managed to update the Canada, Albania and the Jamaica sections. I like them all but especially like the Jamaica black t-shirt. Once people see it, I think it will sell well. In the past I have done pretty well selling the Canada and the Jamaica products. Haven't had so much business for Albania....but I am sure the internet is heading that direction. :D

Here are some fun facts about Canada:

POUTINE is FRENCH FRIES with GRAVY & CHEESE from QUEBEC where they speak GERMAN!

SUMMER in CANADA is when it stops snowing and there it's called JULY!

Canadian bacon is called BACK BACON because it's BACON sent BACK from AMERICAN factories because it LOOKS FUNNY!

CANADA is entirely made of SNOW and ROAD SAND!

There is a SECRET STRIP MINE in NEW BRUNSWICK that was dug to MINE FISH! When it failed, the GOVERNMENT in ONTARIO pretended that it was a city named MONCTON! Amazingly, MOST CANADIANS believe that this "city" named "Moncton" actually exists!

Contrary to popular American belief, today nearly 3 out of 10 Canadian households have WORKING TOILETS!

Ok ok...so I am not sure those are really facts...but they were fun. :)

Here is a fun fact about Albania:

In Albania, nodding the head means no, and shaking the head means yes

That's actually all I could find with a quick search. Interesting though!

Fun facts about Jamaica:

The Coconut Palm is not native to Jamaica or the West Indies. Surprisingly nor are sugar cane, bananas, mangoes, breadfruit or bamboo. They were all brought to the island at various stages in its history. The original Arawak inhabitants lived mainly on corn, fish and yams.

Wow...who knew?!?! :)

Remember, you can find all of these flags and many more on shirts, stickers, magnets and a lot of other items at http://cafepress.com/allflags

Belgium and Black Shirts are Here!

Ok I updated the Belgium flag, mainly because a friend of mine is interested in the shirts. A Belgium blank section was also added. http://www.cafepress.com/allflags/644774 <-- Belgian section. Some interesting Belgium facts: A land whose specialities include ubiquitous beers and delicate chocolates, Belgium is often perceived to be dull. The image that it's simply a staid haunt for business executives and Eurocrats, or the gateway to the rest of Europe, reinforces the idea. But Belgium is a prime destination if you're interested in countryside, culture, and history, served up alongside a huge proportion of highly acclaimed restaurants serving everything from haute cuisine to moules-frites or Belgian waffles. Easy to travel around, this pocket-sized country is divided by the Flemish north (Flemish-speaking) and the Walloon south (French-speaking). Brussels, the capital, is the heart of the country and the European Union. Expanding outwards from the brilliant Gothic architecture of the Grand-Place, this cosmopolitan city contains numerous interesting museums and many fine eateries. The Manneken Pis statue is the place to pose for a photograph and laugh incredulously at others doing likewise. Ostend, in the north, is a popular seaside resort with a long sandy beach, bustling harbour and shops to explore. With its canals and cobbles, thirteenth-century Bruges is one of Europe's finest examples of a medieval town and home to some impressive art collections. Antwerp is renowned for diamonds and throughout all these towns it's difficult to escape the bars and pavement cafés. The south holds great appeal for outdoorsy types - the forested Ardennes is a nature-lover's paradise cut by rivers and gorges where walking opportunities abound. How dull is that? Also, black shirts are now available as I update them. The cool ones so far are Russia and Soviet Union and of course Belgium. You can find every country in the world here: http://www.cafepress.com/allflags

Free Mikhail Khodorkovsky

I have added a new section in the Russia part of www.cafepress.com/allflags called Free Mikhail Khodorkovsky. Mikhail was the head of the Russian oil company Yuko's and was arrested by theRussian government for "tax evasion". Most people in the world feel this whole thing is political.

Mikhail Borisovich Khodorkovsky born June 26, 1963) is a Russian businessman. As of 2004, Khodorkovsky was the wealthiest man in Russia, and was the 16th wealthiest man in the world, although much of his wealth evaporated due to the collapse in the value of his holding in the Russian petroleum company YUKOS.

Until he was jailed, he was considered one of most powerful of the Russian business oligarchs. On October 25, 2003, Khodorkovsky was arrested at gunpoint on a Siberian airport runway by the Russian prosecutor general's office on charges of tax evasion. Shortly thereafter, on October 31, the government under Vladimir Putin further took the unprecedented step of freezing shares of Yukos due to tax charges.

The Russian Government took further actions against Yukos, leading to a collapse in the share price. It purported to sell a major asset of Yukos in December 2004. Khodorkovsky's supporters see Putin's actions against him as retaliation for Khodorkovsky's support of political groups that oppose the government's policies, while opponents believe that he must answer for wrongdoing related to the privatization of state assets during the 1990s.

You can find the Khordorkovsky section here: http://www.cafepress.com/allflags/987694

Updated Israel

Anyone else keep wanting to spell Israel...Isreal?? I have to watch myself everytime I spell it. :D

Anyway, Israel is updated. I can't wait until my black shirts are available. I think everyone will really enjoy the black shirts. They look really good with a flag on them.

Updated Armenia!!

Ok I have updated the Armenia section. The flag has been made brighter plus I have added a blank flag section. Also, I have added a black t-shirt that should be available very soon. These shirts look great!!! You can find the Armenia section here: http://www.cafepress.com/allflags/644840

The Armenia flag is very pretty as you can see.

So you all can get a little culture, I have decided to occasionally add facts about some of the countries. So...without further ado...

Armenia prides itself on being the first nation to formally adopt Christianity (early 4th century). Despite periods of autonomy, over the centuries Armenia came under the sway of various empires including the Roman, Byzantine, Arab, Persian, and Ottoman. It was incorporated into Russia in 1828 and the USSR in 1920. Armenian leaders remain preoccupied by the long conflict with Muslim Azerbaijan over Nagorno-Karabakh, a primarily Armenian-populated region, assigned to Soviet Azerbaijan in the 1920s by Moscow. Armenia and Azerbaijan began fighting over the area in 1988; the struggle escalated after both countries attained independence from the Soviet Union in 1991. By May 1994, when a cease-fire took hold, Armenian forces held not only Nagorno-Karabakh but also a significant portion of Azerbaijan proper. The economies of both sides have been hurt by their inability to make substantial progress toward a peaceful resolution. Turkey imposed an economic blockade on Armenia and closed the common border because of the Armenian occupation of Nagorno-Karabakh and surrounding areas.

Ok so how interesting was that!?!? Seriously, I had no idea that Armenia considered itself the first country to adopt Christianity. Hope everyone enjoyed. Look forward to selling you some great Armenia shirts or any other country of the world for that matter. www.cafepress.com/allflags

My World Flags

Hey welcome to the world flags blog. Since I have a world flag store at www.cafepress.com/allflags I thought it would be cool to start a blog so people from all over the world can discuss their pride for their countries and maybe even talk about their favorite looking flags!

Obviously being from the U.S. I have always liked the United States Flag but starting my world flag store has taught me a lot about flags and about geography!!

I think one of the cooler flags is the Tibet flag pictured above. Obviously on the real Tibet flag, you won't find the words but this is one of my designs at my store www.cafepress.com/allflags. I have thought about adding the now world famous...."Free Tibet" flag but haven't done so as of yet.

What are some of your favorite flags? Check out my store for all the designs.
