O'Canada!!

Ok I have managed to update the Canada, Albania and the Jamaica sections. I like them all but especially like the Jamaica black t-shirt. Once people see it, I think it will sell well. In the past I have done pretty well selling the Canada and the Jamaica products. Haven't had so much business for Albania....but I am sure the internet is heading that direction. :D

Here are some fun facts about Canada:

POUTINE is FRENCH FRIES with GRAVY & CHEESE from QUEBEC where they speak GERMAN!

SUMMER in CANADA is when it stops snowing and there it's called JULY!

Canadian bacon is called BACK BACON because it's BACON sent BACK from AMERICAN factories because it LOOKS FUNNY!

CANADA is entirely made of SNOW and ROAD SAND!

There is a SECRET STRIP MINE in NEW BRUNSWICK that was dug to MINE FISH! When it failed, the GOVERNMENT in ONTARIO pretended that it was a city named MONCTON! Amazingly, MOST CANADIANS believe that this "city" named "Moncton" actually exists!

Contrary to popular American belief, today nearly 3 out of 10 Canadian households have WORKING TOILETS!

Ok ok...so I am not sure those are really facts...but they were fun. :)

Here is a fun fact about Albania:

In Albania, nodding the head means no, and shaking the head means yes

That's actually all I could find with a quick search. Interesting though!

Fun facts about Jamaica:

The Coconut Palm is not native to Jamaica or the West Indies. Surprisingly nor are sugar cane, bananas, mangoes, breadfruit or bamboo. They were all brought to the island at various stages in its history. The original Arawak inhabitants lived mainly on corn, fish and yams.

Wow...who knew?!?! :)

Remember, you can find all of these flags and many more on shirts, stickers, magnets and a lot of other items at http://cafepress.com/allflags

Belgium and Black Shirts are Here!

Ok I updated the Belgium flag, mainly because a friend of mine is interested in the shirts. A Belgium blank section was also added. http://www.cafepress.com/allflags/644774 <-- Belgian section. Some interesting Belgium facts: A land whose specialities include ubiquitous beers and delicate chocolates, Belgium is often perceived to be dull. The image that it's simply a staid haunt for business executives and Eurocrats, or the gateway to the rest of Europe, reinforces the idea. But Belgium is a prime destination if you're interested in countryside, culture, and history, served up alongside a huge proportion of highly acclaimed restaurants serving everything from haute cuisine to moules-frites or Belgian waffles. Easy to travel around, this pocket-sized country is divided by the Flemish north (Flemish-speaking) and the Walloon south (French-speaking). Brussels, the capital, is the heart of the country and the European Union. Expanding outwards from the brilliant Gothic architecture of the Grand-Place, this cosmopolitan city contains numerous interesting museums and many fine eateries. The Manneken Pis statue is the place to pose for a photograph and laugh incredulously at others doing likewise. Ostend, in the north, is a popular seaside resort with a long sandy beach, bustling harbour and shops to explore. With its canals and cobbles, thirteenth-century Bruges is one of Europe's finest examples of a medieval town and home to some impressive art collections. Antwerp is renowned for diamonds and throughout all these towns it's difficult to escape the bars and pavement cafés. The south holds great appeal for outdoorsy types - the forested Ardennes is a nature-lover's paradise cut by rivers and gorges where walking opportunities abound. How dull is that? Also, black shirts are now available as I update them. The cool ones so far are Russia and Soviet Union and of course Belgium. Free Mikhail Khodorkovsky

I have added a new section in the Russia part of www.cafepress.com/allflags called Free Mikhail Khodorkovsky. Mikhail was the head of the Russian oil company Yuko's and was arrested by theRussian government for "tax evasion". Most people in the world feel this whole thing is political.

Mikhail Borisovich Khodorkovsky born June 26, 1963) is a Russian businessman. As of 2004, Khodorkovsky was the wealthiest man in Russia, and was the 16th wealthiest man in the world, although much of his wealth evaporated due to the collapse in the value of his holding in the Russian petroleum company YUKOS.

Until he was jailed, he was considered one of most powerful of the Russian business oligarchs. On October 25, 2003, Khodorkovsky was arrested at gunpoint on a Siberian airport runway by the Russian prosecutor general's office on charges of tax evasion. Shortly thereafter, on October 31, the government under Vladimir Putin further took the unprecedented step of freezing shares of Yukos due to tax charges.

The Russian Government took further actions against Yukos, leading to a collapse in the share price. It purported to sell a major asset of Yukos in December 2004. Khodorkovsky's supporters see Putin's actions against him as retaliation for Khodorkovsky's support of political groups that oppose the government's policies, while opponents believe that he must answer for wrongdoing related to the privatization of state assets during the 1990s.

Anyone else keep wanting to spell Israel...Isreal?? I have to watch myself everytime I spell it. :D

Anyway, Israel is updated. I can't wait until my black shirts are available. I think everyone will really enjoy the black shirts. They look really good with a flag on them.

If anyone is in the Memphis area, and reading this...there will be a Russian speaking night the first Tuesday in December at Bistro Aroma on Kirby Parkway. Look forward to seeing people there! ( My wife is Russian )

Updated Armenia!!

Ok I have updated the Armenia section. The flag has been made brighter plus I have added a blank flag section. Also, I have added a black t-shirt that should be available very soon. These shirts look great!!! You can find the Armenia section here: http://www.cafepress.com/allflags/644840

The Armenia flag is very pretty as you can see.

So you all can get a little culture, I have decided to occasionally add facts about some of the countries. So...without further ado...

Armenia prides itself on being the first nation to formally adopt Christianity (early 4th century). Despite periods of autonomy, over the centuries Armenia came under the sway of various empires including the Roman, Byzantine, Arab, Persian, and Ottoman. It was incorporated into Russia in 1828 and the USSR in 1920. Armenian leaders remain preoccupied by the long conflict with Muslim Azerbaijan over Nagorno-Karabakh, a primarily Armenian-populated region, assigned to Soviet Azerbaijan in the 1920s by Moscow. Armenia and Azerbaijan began fighting over the area in 1988; the struggle escalated after both countries attained independence from the Soviet Union in 1991. By May 1994, when a cease-fire took hold, Armenian forces held not only Nagorno-Karabakh but also a significant portion of Azerbaijan proper. The economies of both sides have been hurt by their inability to make substantial progress toward a peaceful resolution. Turkey imposed an economic blockade on Armenia and closed the common border because of the Armenian occupation of Nagorno-Karabakh and surrounding areas.

Ok so how interesting was that!?!? Seriously, I had no idea that Armenia considered itself the first country to adopt Christianity. Hope everyone enjoyed. Look forward to selling you some great Armenia shirts or any other country of the world for that matter. www.cafepress.com/allflags

My World Flags

Hey welcome to the world flags blog. Since I have a world flag store at www.cafepress.com/allflags I thought it would be cool to start a blog so people from all over the world can discuss their pride for their countries and maybe even talk about their favorite looking flags!

Obviously being from the U.S. I have always liked the United States Flag but starting my world flag store has taught me a lot about flags and about geography!!

I think one of the cooler flags is the Tibet flag pictured above. Obviously on the real Tibet flag, you won't find the words but this is one of my designs at my store www.cafepress.com/allflags. I have thought about adding the now world famous...."Free Tibet" flag but haven't done so as of yet.

What are some of your favorite flags? Check out my store for all the designs.
